Meet the Team - Debbie Au Yeung

One of the many ways mdgroup supports the patient journey in clinical trials is organising and overseeing investigator meetings and site training for all stakeholders involved in the study including sponsors, Clinical Research Organisations (CROs) and healthcare professionals (HCPs).

As a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been impossible to host events in-person since March. So, we have been facilitating virtual meetings to enable trials to continue. These last few months have been full of innovation and experimentation, and we’ve learned a lot. Overall, it’s been invaluable for our clients to be able to continue with clinical studies using virtual meeting technology… though we’re very much looking forward to getting back together, in-person, with our team and clients.

Ahead of that, we wanted to introduce you to our brilliant event services team in a series of mini-interviews. We asked them to reflect on past meetings, travel experiences, and what lessons or skills they have learned during lockdown.

Today, we speak to Debbie Au Yeung, a Senior Project Coordinator based in Hong Kong. Debbie is the primary contact for all delegates attending mdgroup managed events in the Asia-Pacific region. She coordinates and delivers all relevant event logistics, making sure to keep within guidelines and budgetary requirements.

Debbie, what’s your favourite city to meet for an event and why?

Hong Kong is my favourite city as I am a Hong Kong citizen and I’m always happy to show everyone this beautiful place. The city view at night in Hong Kong is – without exaggeration – the prettiest view in the world. After a busy meeting, it is a pleasure to enjoy the stunning scenery.

What’s your favourite venue you have worked in and why?

The Millennium Hilton Bangkok is located in the centre of the city and connected to the river and roads. A Thai massage is an indulgent activity after a meeting, which is so relaxing before you go back home.

What skills or lessons have you learned during lockdown?

It was a hard time for everyone during lockdown. Luckily, I am working for mdgroup. During the last few months, I have supported my colleagues across the business which has exposed me to a wider range of company processes.

Personally, as Hong Kong did not have a full lockdown, people could go anywhere. I love volunteering at an organic farm as I have a passion for farming and planting different plants. I have been keeping my colleagues updated about these activities during our virtual team calls.

Looking for more support with investigator meetings and site training?

We can’t wait to see you all again at events soon! In the meantime, we’ve published this helpful guide on how to run effective virtual meetings, as well as preparing for meeting again in-person with the required social distancing and hygiene measures.

Can we help you run your next virtual or in-person event?
